The time: Now.
The place: The world as we know it.
Loki is wrecking havoc once more. Ant-Man, the Wasp, Iron Man, the Hulk, and Thor formed the Avengers to try to stop him from taking the world apart at the seams. They had to work together to stop the trickster before it was too late. They succeeded, but not before the Hulk decided that he didn't want anything to do with the group of "heroes," heading off on his own.
It was while they were looking for him that the rest of the group, discovered Captain America in the ice that had preserved him for decades. They brought him back to Tony Stark's "Avengers Mansion," where he thawed out and, after some initial confusion, joined the team of superheroes.
Meanwhile, in Salem, Massachusetts, a school for very special children has been running for a few years. Charles Xavier, founder and headmaster of Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, is a mutant, one of the world's most powerful telepaths. He opened the school to help young mutants gain control over their abilities, as well as an education. Some of his first students helped to form a group he has called the X-Men, though they are still a fledgling idea.
With both groups concentrating on the threats presented to their specific demographic, the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division is working to ensure the safety of the entire world, even if it means keeping an eye on these "superheroes." Even the heads of SHIELD are unaware, however, that they have been harbouring the enemy for years, that HYDRA has been growing within the organization since the end of World War II.
Other heroes are coming out of the woodwork; from Hell's kitchen to the plains of Africa, you can find costumed individuals fighting for their views of what's right.
But even as these heroes are stepping forward, putting themselves in the line of fire, there are other groups forming, people that don't have the greater good at heart. Just as there are heroes, so, too, are there villains.
The mutant known as Magneto, in his quest for mutant rights, has put homo sapiens on his hit list, if they get in the way. And with the return of the Red Skull, no one is truly safe.
And not only do these threats exist on earth, but far out in the galaxy, there exist creatures that would like nothing more than to conquer such a planet as Earth: the Chitauri, the Kree, the Skrulls.
What will our heroes do when they encounter such threats? What side will each person choose? With so many variables, will good prevail? Or will the world fall into chaos?
