- Do not post anywhere until approved.
Once you have written your application, you must wait until you have been approved to post anywhere on the site, including the OOC forums and introduction boards. The only place you are allowed to interact with members before approval is through the shoutbox.
- Posting a thread.
When posting a thread, make sure you have covered the basics of when and where a thread takes place. If your character is inside, make sure we know this. If it is a closed thread between you and another member, make sure to include their character name in the thread title. If it is an open thread, meaning it there is no planned partner in the thread, make sure you place 'open' in the title. If you are writing a one-shot about your character for the purpose of story progression, include 'one-shot' in your title. - Posting in a posted thread.
If a thread is posted as being an open thread, go ahead and post! We do recommend asking a roleplayer in advance, but if they post an open thread, odds are they want people to reply. If a thread is specified as closed, except for another character, don't post in that thread. It's as simple as that!
- Do not NPC a taken character.
NPC stands for 'non-playable character.' This is when a roleplayer fills in a character themselves. Common examples are reacting civilians on the street, the tellers at a bank being robbed. These sorts of NPCs are fine. The problem comes when a person plays a character who is available to be applied for in an unnecessary manner or, worse, NPCs a character that is taken by a member on the forum. This will result in an immediate warning. The person playing the character would probably rather be a part of a thread, rather than have you borrow their character for it. - Post order.
If a thread is taking place between two characters, then the person who posts the thread will go first, followed by the other included character. In a thread involving three or more characters, whatever order the original posts are in should remain the posting order for the rest of the thread. Meaning, if Mystique posts a thread and then Magneto replies, followed by Nightcrawler, then the posting order for the rest of the thread would be Mystique - Magneto - Nightcrawler. Don't skip over a roleplayer in a multi-way thread! - Double posts.
Avoid double posting in OOC threads. This is where, after a period of no reply, a person goes and adds a new post underneath their original post, hoping to bump a thread. It's a bit tacky and messy looking. Double posts will occasionally happen by mistake because of proboards and people's internet. In this case, just delete one of the posts and leave the other. Simple fix! - No in-post images.
Do not post any images in a thread, whether it is in character or out of character. It tends to distract from the writing and can stretch people's pages. If your post requires a visual aid, feel free to leave a link to the image at the bottom of your post. - Conflict in character ≠ conflict OOC.
Some of us play villains because we like being villains, not because we're mean people! Always remember that just because a persons character doesn't like your character, that doesn't mean that the roleplayer has any problem with you. The emotions of our characters are not always our own! And if there is conflict between people on the forum, let's deal with it like grown ups. - Post Requirements.
After you have your first character, you must have five, in-character posts with that character before applying for another. After that point, you must have ten, in-character posts with your latest approved character before you can apply for another. For example, if your first character is Remy LeBeau, you must have five posts before applying for another character. If your second character is Nightcrawler, you must have ten posts with him before you can apply for a new character. Posts in the games or out of character boards do not count towards this number. - Activity Guidelines
When you take a new character, you need to post with that character within one week after taking the character. After that, each member needs to have at least one post a week. Which means that, if you have more than one character, that not all of them have to have one post. We would like to have more than that, of course, but we fully understand that people have real lives. However, we will be having a Member Recap, to make sure that everyone's around. What that means is that we'll have a thread for people to respond to, and then you'll just need to make your weekly posts for the month.
