- Read all the rules and information.
[li]Do not post anywhere until approved!
Once you have written your application, you must wait until you have been approved to post anywhere on the site, including the OOC forums and introduction boards. The only place you are allowed to interact with members before approval is through the shoutbox. Pretty cut and dry.
[/li][li]Be respectful.
We'd like to hope this one is obvious. Be polite, both to moderators and other members. This is on the boards, in the shoutbox, and in messages. There's no reason to be negative about people. If you don't like someone, don't play with them. There's no reason to start anything.
[/li][li]No godmoding, no metagaming!
This should go without saying. Godmoding is the act of controlling another person's character during a role play. You only control your character-- this includes predicting how your partner will react or respond. If you play a character that has the ability to control another person (ie. the Purple Man from Jessica Jones), you must note at the bottom of your post that you asked your partner for permission to have their character react in the way they do. Metagaming is making use of out of character information during an in character situation. Even though you may know a character's one weakness, if your character doesn't, you can't magically use it during a role play.
[/li][li]No OCs or non-Marvel characters.
OC stands for Original Character. The only characters accepted on this forum are canon Marvel characters who have appeared in publication, either through Marvel Comics or the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
[/li][li]English language only.
Every post on the forum must be written in the English language. People who speak English as a second language will be allowed based on their writing skills in their application. If English is your second language, please message the admin when posting your application. This rule does not apply to dialogue, so long as you provide a translation somewhere in the post and your character has a reason to be speaking this language. Example: Bucky Barnes may speak Russian in a reply, but Tony Stark... not so much.
[/li][li]Proper grammar must be used.
Hopefully, this goes without saying. Proper grammar, punctuation, formatting and spelling must be used on the forum at all times. This means if "U RIT LYKE DIS," you won't be accepted onto the forum. No chatspeak. The only place this writing would be accepted is in the shoutbox, but you must be able to be understood.
[/li][li]Keep language at PG-13.
We want to make sure everyone is comfortable on the forum, so we request that everyone refrains from cursing on the forums and in the shoutbox. If you're not sure about a word or phrase, feel free to contact an admin to ask for confirmation. In-character cursing is allowed, provided it's something the character would say and provided it's not every other word. Marvel censors, so you should feel free to do so, as well.
[/li][li]No sexual threads.
On the topic of trying to keep everyone on the forum comfortable, there are to be no sexual threads on the forum. Romance is perfectly fine, but no sexual conduct. Feel free to fade to black and imply it, but keep the actual act off the boards. No exceptions, no warnings. Posting anything with explicit sexual content will result in an instant banning.
[/li][li]Post on the appropriate boards.
We try our best to have a place for everything. Before you make a thread, make sure you're posting it on the right board. If you're not sure about where something should go, never be worried about asking an admin for assistance. We'd rather help you than have to move it later. Also on this topic, when placing an in character thread, make sure it's in a place your character actually has a business being. Don't magically put Charles Xavier in Asgard without any explanation of why or how. These things are important.
[/li][li]Plagiarism is an instant ban.
We take plagiarism very seriously here. If it appears in your application you will be told to rewrite, and if it appears in any threads it will result in an instant ban. This includes copying from a wiki without proper sourcing, or copying from an application for another site. Even if you say that the application is your own, because we can't prove that, it will not be allowed. All writing on this site must be original.
[/li][li]No backseat moderating.
This has been a problem for a couple of our admins in the past on previous forums. Please do not act as a moderator under any circumstances. This involves sending messages to people about breaking any rules, or answering guest questions in the shoutbox. While we know you probably mean well, we prefer these things are left to our staff! If you see someone breaking a rule, we'd much prefer if you bring it privately to our attention.
[/li][li]Activity Guidelines
When you take a new character, you need to post with that character within one week after taking the character. After that, each member needs to have at least one post a week. Which means that, if you have more than one character, that not all of them have to have one post. We would like to have more than that, of course, but we fully understand that people have real lives. However, we will be having a Member Recap, to make sure that everyone's around. What that means is that we'll have a thread for people to respond to, and then you'll just need to make your weekly posts for the month.
[/li][li]Graphics.
Your icon and signature on the site must portray the character you are playing using the face claim approved in your application. Icons are 150x150. Signatures are 500x250 and cannot contain animation. No hotlinking. Your icon and signature must be yours or made for you, and cannot contain fan art. Do not post images in a thread. If your post requires a visual aid, feel free to leave a link to the image at the bottom of your post.
[/li][li]Don't be afraid to ask questions.
Our staff prides itself on being approachable and friendly! We want members and guests to never be afraid to ask a question, either directly to one of our accounts or in the shoutbox. We may not answer immediately, but we will always do our best to get back to you quickly!
[/li][li]Drama Free.
Possibly one of the most important things about this forum is our promise to do our best to keep this place drama free. We've been chased off of forums because of problems in the past, and we won't stand for any trouble. So, don't be a drama-starter! You'll get one warning regarding this, and repeated offences will result in being banned.
