- Read all the rules and information.
First and foremost, before you ever apply to join The Paths We Choose, you should make sure you have read all of the rules and application information posted! Trust us; we will know if you don't read the rules. - Proper grammar must be used.
Hopefully, this goes without saying. Proper grammar, punctuation, formatting and spelling must be used on the forum at all times. This means if "U RIT LYKE DIS," you won't be accepted onto the forum. No chatspeak. The only place this writing would be accepted is in the shoutbox, but you must be able to be understood. - Plagiarism is an instant ban.
We take plagiarism very seriously here. If it appears in your application you will be told to rewrite, and if it appears in any threads it will result in an instant ban. This includes copying from a wiki without proper sourcing, or copying from an application for another site. Even if you say that the application is your own, because we can't prove that, it will not be allowed. All writing on this site must be original. - Choose a character you know.
You are required to have a basic knowledge of the character you're applying for to fill out the application, so try to choose a character you at least know a little bit about in advance. It makes writing them a lot easier. - Elites.
Certain characters are considered too strong or too powerful to be given to a person as their first character. These characters can be found on the Elite character list and may not be applied for until you have one approved character on the forum, meet the post requirements, and have asked the admins for permission to apply for the character at hand. - Characters not on the character lists.
If a character you want to apply for is not listed on any of the character lists, that doesn't mean they are automatically not accepted! With thousands of characters in the Marvel universe, it's entirely possible that the admins just missed them. You are more than welcome to ask about character in the shoutbox, or to PM a staff member directly to ask. Depending on the character, we may or may not give you the go ahead, but it's better to ask than to just assume. - Follow the template.
All the information you should need about how to fill out the application is in the application template. Just follow what we have written there, and there should be no problems! We've tried our best to keep it as simple as possible, so don't go adding any new sections or leaving anything blank.
If you need help with something or just don't understand what we're looking for, feel free to contact any of the staff members for assistance. We'll do our best to point you in the right direction. - Be patient.
It can take a few days from when you post your finished application to when the staff can look it over. Each member of the PWC staff will have the chance to look over your application and then talk about any changes that must be made. If we feel you need to do revisions, you will receive a message in your inbox, where you will have a week to revise you application before submitting it to us once again. This process can take time, so please avoid asking in the shoutbox about your application, or saying things such as "When I'm accepted..." Neither will get us working on it any more quickly than we already are.
