History / Bio: In the heart of Caldecott County, Mississippi, a couple living inside a back-to-nature commune fell in love, married, and had a baby. Young Anna-Marie had a happy childhood, up until the day that the commune's attempt to reach the Far Banks-- a spirit world where dreams are real-- resulted in her mother's disappearance. Her Aunt Carrie took over the role of mother, playing a much stricter role than her true mother ever had. This, paired with her sour relationship with her father, resulted in her running away from home several times in her young teens and earning her the name 'Rogue.'
Around the age of fourteen, Anna-Marie became close friends with a boy named Cody Robbins, and she became quite fond of him. One day, while expressing her affection towards him, she gave him her first kiss, unawaredly awakening her dormant mutant abilities. Cody wound up in a coma, leaving Anna-Marie emotionally scarred from the experience. Realising that what happened to Cody was because of her, Anna-Marie took every precaution, wearing as many layers as she could to prevent even the risk of accidental contact with another person. Unlike other mutants, she had no control, no ability to turn her powers off. It was after this event that she finally ran away from her home for good, intent on never returning to Caldecott County.
It wasn't long after her powers were awakened that Anna-Marie was approached by the mutant Mystique, who took her in as an adoptive daughter with the promise of teaching her how to use her powers for the 'greater good.' Under Mystique, Anna-Marie turned away from who she had been, accepting her name of Rogue and turning her loneliness and pain into anger.
Alongside Mystique and her Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, Rogue worked hard to train her abilities, all with the intention of becoming a dangerous weapon for the Brotherhood. For her first official mission, she encountered Ms. Marvel, and the two fought. Through prolonged encounter, Rogue managed to permanently absorb Ms. Marvel's abilities, along with her memories.
With these new powers on top of her original abilities, Rogue became a force to be reckoned with, taking on the X-Men and the Avengers alike. However, with Ms. Marvel's powers came Carol Danvers' memories and personality. Rogue began to fear that she was losing herself in the absorbed personalities of others, but also began to see her life in a new light. She didn't like the things that she was doing, or the life she was leading.
With no one else to turn to, Rogue sought out Professor Xavier, the leader of the X-Men and the founder of the School for Gifted Youngsters. Although he had once been considered an enemy of hers due to Mystique, she had heard stories about how Xavier would do everything in his power to help young mutants learn to control and understand their powers; if anyone could help her, she knew it would be him. Despite having previously fought the X-Men alongside her adoptive mother, and the others disapproval, Professor Xavier welcomed her into the school, intent on helping her learn to reign in her powers.
It took many months before she was able to prove herself fully to the other X-Men, but after time they did accept her as one of their own. While her powers are still unpredictable and uncontrolled, she finally feels as though she has a place where she could belong.

Sample: Children aren't subtle. It was a fact Rogue had long since come to terms with. Children would always point at the weird streaks in her hair, ask a little too loudly why the strange girl was wearing gloves in the dead heat of summer. It was one of those simple facts of life that she had to live with. And for most of her life, it had been a fairly easy one to deal with, as she didn't spend much time around kids young enough to not know better.
But now, since coming to live in Xavier's little school, she was finding that she was surrounded by children. Children who, despite their own oddities, wanted to point out hers. A kid with a forked tongue had even gone so far as to ask why the girl with the deadly touch wasn't required to go around in a bubble, like something out of a bad science fiction movie. She would have wrung his neck, if she had been able to get over the thoughts of her own tongue splitting in two.
And maybe she would have been able to handle the comments from the children if she wasn't certain the people her own age weren't thinking the same things. The X-Men accepted her, maybe. But they didn't trust her as far as they could throw her. She was fairly certain Scott was still even doubting that she should be there-- the boy seemed to have some sort of vendetta against her, not that she could blame him.
Sitting in the room she had for herself inside the school, she thought about what would happen if she had to leave again. What she would do if they became too afraid of her, where she would go. She couldn't very well go back to mama; she'd basically betrayed the only family she'd had when she came here. Still, the thought came around frequently, where she would run to next. Maybe back to the South, maybe some island somewhere no one had ever heard of.
Opening the door to her room, Rogue noticed card taped to the outside. Peeling it off and partly expecting some sort of rude message to be written there, she found instead the queen of hearts, with the heart somehow burned out of the middle of the card.
A faint smile found its way onto her lips as she pocketed the card, a roll of her eyes following, as though just in case the person who left the card were around to spot her. At least, it seemed, there was one person in the mansion who wasn't afraid of her.

Strengths / Abilities / Powers:
- Power Absorption: Rogue's unique mutation allows her the ability to absorb other people's life force, memories and personalities through touch. Any skin-to-skin, direct contact will allow her to absorb their life force on a scale of 1-60. Meaning, if Rogue makes direct skin contact for one second, she will absorb a person's abilities / energy / memories for sixty seconds.
- She's a Marvel: Rogue has permanently absorbed Ms. Marvel's powers, granting her superhuman abilities. Her superhuman strength allows her to lift up to 50 tons, and her stamina, speed agility, durability and reflexes are above that of the average human. Along with this comes her ability to fly under her own power.
- Parlez-vous: Rogue is able to speak fluent French. As well, she is able to retain phrases from the minds of those whose personality she has absorbed. If she is to come into contact with someone who speaks fluent German, such as Nightcrawler, she will be able to draw on that for the duration of her having their memories or powers.
- Acrobatic: Learned mostly from her frequent sparring partner Gambit, Rogue has picked up a highly acrobatic skill set. While her Savate and Bojutsu is no where near as good, she's picked up a lot of his movement and it can be easily spotted by anyone who spends enough time with the pair.
- Tough Skin: A sassy Southern girl with a temper to boot, Rogue doesn't take anything from anyone. Anti-mutant comments have surrounded her for much of her life, so she has built herself up to the point where she doesn't let those things bother her, at least outwardly. She makes a constant effort of keeping an air of humour about her, trying to make the best of her less-than-wonderful situation.
Weaknesses:
- No Touch: Due to Rogue's ability to absorb people's life through touch, she has become rather adjusted to avoiding touch all together. With this, she has grown to be a solitary person who avoids getting close to people. It is difficult for her to open up to people or to give them her trust. Her standoffish personality occasionally gives people the impression that she is cold or unkind, which assists in people staying clear of her.
- Personality Absorption: An unfortunate side effect of Rogue's powers is that, while she can absorb a person's memory and powers, she will also gain a certain amount of their personality. This can translate into little things, such as an accent, or something as notable as physical characteristics and addictions. If she is to absorb a person's psyche completely, these changes may become permanent, as in the case of Ms. Marvel.
- Public Identity: While Rogue has never gone on record stating her true identity, she doesn't wear a mask and is not hard to recognise as one of the X-Men. This can make her a target when she travels outside of the school, as she makes no real effort to conceal her identity.
- Temper: Hot-headed, it's not always easy for Rogue to keep her temper in check. And getting a super-strength power siphon angry? Definitely not the best plan of attack. That said, when Rogue starts seeing red, it's hard for her to think logically, and she can become reckless and messy.
- Loyalty: For all that Rogue is one of the X-Men and would never go against them, she still has trouble with where her loyalties lie. She cannot bring herself to do any harm to Mystique, which raises questions at times about if she really is loyal to Professor Xavier's cause, or her adoptive mother's.
Sample: Children aren't subtle. It was a fact Rogue had long since come to terms with. Children would always point at the weird streaks in her hair, ask a little too loudly why the strange girl was wearing gloves in the dead heat of summer. It was one of those simple facts of life that she had to live with.
