History / Bio: Raven was born in a time when mutants were not commonplace. When her powers first developed at the age of twelve, she practised with them in secret, keeping her amazing abilities from her family. Unfortunately, she was found out, her true appearance being revealed to her parents. Frightened by the sight of their daughter and thinking she was a demon, they tried to have her killed. Afraid for her life, Raven ran away from her home, assuming a new identity everywhere she went.
Through her travels, Raven met and began a relationship with a woman by the name of Irene Adler, a blind, powerful precog who had the shape-shifter assist her in deciphering the prophecies she had written over the years. The two travelled together for many years, stopping some of Irene's more dangerous prophecies from coming true, before they lost contact with one another.
Years later, Raven found herself in Austria, where she was courted by Baron Christian Wagner, a member of German nobility. He fell in love with the woman that Raven pretended to be, and married her without ever knowing what she truly was. For a few years, their marriage was a happy one, but over time Raven grew bored. Along with this, her husband proved to be infertile, blaming his wife for their inability to produce an heir.
Giving in to her more mischievous instincts, Raven began shape-shifting in order to have sex with other men, frequently servants, hiding her identity as the lady of the house. During this time, she met a man named Azazel, who claimed to be the ruler of an island, and the two began an affair. Through this affair, Raven became pregnant with Azazel's child.
Her husband, suspicious of the fact that they were suddenly able to become pregnant, ordered a blood test to be preformed to determine if the child was his. Unwilling to have her secret revealed, Raven killed the Baron and buried his body, able to feign the part of a grieving widow whose husband went missing for the next nine months. When she gave birth, the concentration it took for her to focus on her shape-shifting was thrown and her true, blue form was revealed, frightening the nurse who claimed she was a demon. She gave birth to a little boy, with blue skin and a tail. The townspeople of the small town claimed both to be demons, setting out to kill them. Knowing that she wouldn't be able to escape while taking care of the baby, she left him in the care of a travelling circus, knowing that they would be able to get him out of Austria.
Raven fled to the United States, where she formed the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, a group for mutants like her who had been turned on by lesser humans. The group waged attacks against such heroes as the Avengers and the X-Men. Through her travels with the Brotherhood, Raven found the young mutant Rogue, who she took under her wing with the promise of teaching her how to control her out of control powers. The girl proved to be a dangerous weapon for the Brotherhood, a girl who could suck the life and memories out of a person through a simple touch.
After an incident with Ms. Marvel, Rogue left the Brotherhood to join the X-Men, and Raven found herself feeling as if something was missing in her life. While researching where the Brotherhood would be striking next, she found a record that the circus where she had left her son was forcing mutants into an underground fighting ring. Setting this as the Brotherhood's next target, the group set off for Germany. Disguising herself, Raven was able to sneak into the fight, freeing the boy that she recognised as her son from the cage match.
She took the boy to Xavier, not knowing exactly what else she could do for him.
Knowing that her son is now a part of the X-Men hasn't stopped Mystique from fighting against them. No matter what comes of it, she won't stop causing chaos and fear on behalf of mutantkind.

In a pain induced haze, it took Raven far longer than she may have preferred to realise why her nursemaid was screaming. The foolish child ran from the room, shouting about a demon. Another tremor of pain shivered down her spine before she could think to shout after the girl, any words she may have had dying in the back of her throat as she grit her teeth.
A pressure relieved, and she lay there on her bed a moment longer, simply trying to catch her breath. With her heart returning to a slower, more normal pace, Raven was able to return her skin from its scaled blue to a Caucasian tone, the fiery red hair dulling back to brown. Once she was certain her form was holding, she pushed herself up onto her elbows, lifting her newborn from where he lay, fussing quietly.
"No... No, no..."
It had never crossed her mind, and it was as if her world would crash down around her at the tiny sight in her arms. It was rare, people like her were supposed to be rare, but the little creature in her arms was as blue as she was. Taking a moment to swipe the fluid from his mouth, earning her a little gurgle from the child, she was only further shocked when he opened his eyes to reveal bright yellow staring up at her.
A tail wrapped around her wrist.
"Damn you... Damn you, Azazel..." Cradling the baby against her chest, Raven cooed under her breath when she heard another little fuss leave the boy. Reaching into her bedside table, she retrieved a pair of scissors, quickly severing the umbilical cord and making quick work of it. "Shh... It's alright, little one..."
Wrapping the tiny child and gathering him in her arms, Raven could still hear the screaming out in the hall, only growing in terror. Demon. Monster. Creature. She shut her eyes, but the pain returned as she stood off the bed, her legs nearly buckling beneath her. Holding her form was impossible in this state, and she reverted slowly, earning another quiet noise from her son.
Out into the hall she ran, doing everything she could to escape the place that had been her home for so many years without being seen... An impossible feat. It seemed that her lovely little maid, Ingrid, was doing quick work of starting some sort of witch hunt for her. They would run her out. They would kill her, if they caught her. They would kill...
She glanced down at the bundle in her arms, knowing full well this would be the only night he would spend with her, one way or the other.

Strengths / Abilities / Powers:
- Metamorph: Mystique's mutation is a unique ability that makes her known as a metamorph, or a shape-shifter. She is able to change her form down to the tiniest of details, even able to fool biometric scanners. Her body during shifting changes down to the cellular structure, giving her the ability to become anybody. Moreover, she is able to equally manipulate her vocal cords to match the voice of the person she is becoming.
- Accelerated Healing: Mystique's natural skin, blue and scaled, possesses a very slight healing factor which allows her to mend skin and bones quicker than an average person. However, this ability is merely accelerated healing and not a true healing factor, and therefore will not help her should a limb be lost, or something in this vein. This has also allowed her to live as long as she has.
- Sharp Shooter: Be it an 18th century pistol or a modern machine gun, Mystique is an expert when it comes to firearms. While her preference is to act as a sniper, if it shoots, Mystique will almost undoubtedly be able to hit her target.
- Covert Operative: Mystique is a terrorist, an expert strategist and skilled in commando operations. She is biologically designed to be able to infiltrate anywhere, a talented enough actress to fool people into believing she is someone they may have already known well.
- Physical Strength: While Raven does prefer to shoot her way out of trouble, if she finds herself without a weapon she is able to fight her way through. She's naturally quite strong, and is able to enhance her strength for short periods of time by redistributing her mass.
- Languages: Raven speaks eleven languages fluently; English, German, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Farsi, Czech, Japanese, Mandarin, Hindi, Russian, and Italian.
Weaknesses:
- Mass Manipulation: No matter how large a form Mystique takes, she cannot weigh anymore than her actual weight. She is able to maneuver her mass, but not manipulate it. As well, when she takes the form of someone larger than herself, she will feel a more notable strain and it will become more difficult for her to hold the form.
- Scar Identification: Scars that occur to Mystique are no longer affected by her shape-shifting. This means, should she receive a notable enough scar during a fight, she could be identified by it in the future.
- Public Identity: While she frequently goes by a variety of disguises, aliases and even steals the identities of others, when it comes to her natural body, Raven has no chance of a hidden identity. When you're blue and scaled, you lose your privacy. Her true, visual identity is widely known, especially due to her being wanted for an assortment of crimes, and because of this she is often forced to hide.
- Ideals: Be it right or wrong, Mystique has chosen her side and where she stands. Her openness to fight for her ideals can often make her a target, both by pro-mutant activists who want to be peaceful with humans, and by anti-mutant activists who want to silence her.
- Appearance Limitation: Mystique's powers are limited strictly to physical appearance. While she can become a person down to a microscopic level, she cannot gain the powers of other mutants or superhumans. She can mimic the appearance of other powers, such as becoming Colossus in his metal form, but she would not gain the same invulnerability.
