History / Bio:
Born a daughter of Vanaheimr, Sif came to live in Asgard at a young age. This was in order to be nearer to her brother Heimdall, who acted as the overseer of the Bifrost. As a young girl, she often played with the young princes Thor and Loki, whom she considered for much of her childhood to be her only friends. For much of her young life, the three of them were inseparable.
She began her training around the same time as the two boys, longing to become a warrior and demonstrating a remarkable ability when it came to swordsmanship. In truth, she had often watched the warriors as a little girl, trying to learn all that she could and practising on her own in secret. As she grew, she focused more on her abilities, and was soon training alongside some of the strongest warriors in Asgard. It was around this time that she began to fall in love with the Golden Prince, though she kept her feelings greatly to herself, for fear of being refuted or mocked.
At the time Sif was entering into adulthood, she was regarded as one of the fairest maidens in Asgard. This was greatly due to her golden hair, which she took pride in, despite the fact that she frequently said appearance mattered little to her. Her hair was always the exception to that rule. On one unfortunate night, however, the trickster prince entered her chambers while she was sleeping and cut off all her hair. When she realised what had been done to her, though she didn't know by whom, Sif locked herself in her bedchamber, embarrassed by how she looked.
Thor was the one who discovered that his brother had been at fault, and found a way to coerce Loki into restoring her hair. However, as Loki was unable (or possibly unwilling) to pay the dwarfs who were to create new hair for her, the dwarfs crafted the hair from nothing but the blackness of night. Loki gave Sif the gift of her new hair, and she found that the black hair suited her more than the golden hair she had been born with. Her golden locks never regrew; from that day, her hair has been black as the night.
Through the years, Thor and Sif went their separate ways. Sif continued with her training and was taken under the wing of a powerful warrior known as Valkyrie. Under her tutelage, Sif was able to find her true strength and learn how to better control her emotions in battle. Due to her arduous training, it has only been recently that she has heard any word of her childhood love and what has become of him in Midgard.

She had never been one to get involved with these sorts of celebrations. Standing awkwardly beneath a column to the side of the large banquet hall, Sif felt herself wishing that the shadows would swallow her up, allowing her to exit the celebration without being noticed. Give her an evening with warriors, more alcohol than they should be capable of drinking, a foolish tall tale of war that gets more ridiculous every time Volstagg tells it... Those sorts of celebrations, those events were the sort in which she could truly relax.
But here, surrounded by not only Asgard's most notable warriors but also the more influential lords, the Allfather's family, Lady Frigga's many handmaidens... The woman felt more out of place than she ever had on the battlefields surrounded by men.
One hand tugged anxiously at the draping of silk that covered her, the deep crimson colour assisting in keeping her hidden away from prying eyes as she leaned her back against the pillar, watching those who were more capable of letting themselves relax have a good time tonight. It wasn't for lack of experience, either, that she found herself so uncomfortable; she had been to many of these celebrations over the years, and each time found them more and more unbearable. At least as a child, or a young woman, there had been some element of novelty. Now, she had seen everything these events had to offer.
Thor was at the centre of the celebrations, as always. The golden child of Asgard, as always, seemed to love any party that was held in his honour. Surrounded as he was by friends, by strangers, by women, Sif doubted very much that he would ever notice her disappearance from the party. With all the ale he drank and the dances he shared, he would likely be too dizzy to ever even see her.
She felt a presence in her shadows, and spoke quietly under her breath, not raising her eyes from where they settled on the glass in her hand, "If you attempt subtlety in your escape, you have failed. Do you not think your own brother will notice you gone?"
Sif earned no reply, and so she added, "Should you succeed, I wish you would take me with you. I've no care to watch this display any longer than I must."

Strengths / Abilities / Powers:
- God-Like: Sharing the Asgardian physiology of her people, Sif has superhuman strength, speed, and stamina. Her strength is above average even by Asgardian standards, giving her the ability to lift up to 30 tons. Her heightened stamina and durability allow her to stay in a fight longer than most. Like all the Aesir, she displays a regenerative healing factor, allowing her to heal more quickly than a human would. As well, she has an extended lifespan and slowed ageing process, allowing her to live several hundred years while still retaining the looks and physicality of a young woman.
- Wisdom: Wisdom comes with age, and throughout her long life cycle, Sif has learned to evolve and change with the times in order to survive. She is able to think on her feet, act well under pressure, and has gained quite a knowledge of the Midgardian realm through her years. While she may not understand the day to day workings of people living on Earth, she is no fool.
- Warrior: Sif has spent much of her life training as a shield-maiden, and is well-versed in battle tactics, hand-to-hand combat, and swordsmanship. Her weapon of choice is longsword. While she fights alongside men who often outweigh her in strength, she is more than able to hold her own against any opponent that she faces off against.
- Allspeak: Asgardians are gifted in language due to Allspeak, which allows Sif to communicate in all of the languages of the Nine Realms, including those spoken on Earth.
- Masculine: Sif's ability to relate more to men than the women of Asgard transcends from purely the physical and into the mental. She grew up around boys and always had more male friends than she did female. In truth, she would rather be drinking and getting into fights with her boys than she ever would having a nice quiet night with other women. Because of this, she is able to relate more to the warriors with her on the battlefield. They don't see her as some dainty creature who has been escorted along; she becomes one of them.
- Privilege: With the position of her family within Asgard, Sif has always been blessed to be held in a higher standing than she maybe would have been otherwise. She has been regarded as a noble lady from a young age, and was raised alongside the Allfather's sons, giving her access to libraries, tutors and training that she would not have been able to have had she been born to someone else.
Weaknesses:
- Temper: When facing off against a problem, Sif's immediate reaction is often to solve it with violence. When this backfires, she is not always the only one hurt by her actions. Her temper can be fiery and unpredictable, and when it gets out of control, can get those she cares for hurt.
- Grudges: Sif has been known to hold a grudge for years, possibly even decades. Once a person does something to cross her or lose her trust, it's nearly impossible to win back. If one does manage to get back on her good side, she will likely hold them at arm's length for some time until she truly believes they can be trusted again.
- Alien: While Sif has existed for many years and is not unversed in the ways of Midgard, this is not to imply that she enjoys having to be in that realm. Not only does time seem to move more quickly there, but their ways are much different from what she is used to. At the end of the day, she is nothing more than a visitor in that realm, and never feels fully at peace there.
- Venomous Tongue: Sif rarely thinks about the way that she comes across, or the effects that her words and actions may have on others. This has hurt her in the past, as she can come across as a bit of a bully even to those she cares for, and if a person is more sensitive, they may take her words to heart.
- Woman: While she may associate herself almost solely with men, Sif is still a woman. She is not as physically strong as the men she fights alongside, has different weaknesses, and a different mentality from them. There are times in her life where she has wished that she followed a more proper path, if only solely so that certain people would see her for the woman she is.
- Loyalty: Sif is loyal to the Allfather and Asgard. Should something present itself as a threat to her king or the people of her home, she will fight until her dying breath in order to protect them-- no matter who or what that threat may be.
Miscellaneous: Sif has trained under Brunhilde, more commonly known as Valkyrie.
